Mark has created music for M&M’s, Cartoon Network, Target, Volkswagen, Adult Swim, Safeway, Amtrak, Qwest, SC Johnson, 3M, Microsoft Windows Live, the Chicago Cubs, Hewlett-Packard, Meals On Wheels, TicketsNOW, Wagner, Unilever, Ambien, Ace Hardware, ARS Service Express, Kashi, This American Life, and American Greetings. Mark played in the Coctails (Hi-Ball/Carrot Top) and currently plays with Archer Prewitt (Thrill Jockey) and Eleventh Dream Day (Thrill Jockey).
Paul Von Mertens
Paul currently tours and records as part of Brian Wilson’s (of the Beach Boys) band. He has worked on “Pet Sounds” , “Smile”, and “That Lucky Old Sun”. Writing credits include music for Steppenwolf Theater, the Peabody Award-winning documentary “The Lost Children of Rockdale County” and “Merchants of Cool” for Frontline, and the long-running “Workplace Essential Skills” for PBS. Other clients include CareerBuilder.com and Second City Productions. Paul has performed and recorded with the likes of Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Mavis Staples, Stereolab, Burt Bacharach, Poi Dog Pondering, and the Sea and Cake and was nominated for a Grammy for his arrangement of the Brian Wilson recording “Midnight’s Another Day”.
Ethan’s film work includes soundtrack and related promotions for “V for Vendetta” (dir. James McTeigue), the Wachowski Brothers’ films “Speed Racer” and “Ninja Assassin “, as well as “The Spirit (dir. Frank Miller). Indie film soundtrack work includes “Loving and Cheating” (dir. Thom Powers), “Red Hook Justice” (dir. Meema Spadola), “License To Play” (dir. Ann Rose), and “Roadrunner” (dir. Christopher Blasingame). Other clients included Second City Productions, the Chicago Bulls, Human Rights Watch, the Chicago Blackhawks, and Safeway/Dominick.
As a singer-songwriter Tamar’s music has been heard on the CW’s “Veronica Mars,” Chromiumblue.com (“Showtime Beyond”), “Knock First” (ABC Family Channel), and “Fanatic” (MTV) as well as in independent films such as “Temporary Girl” by Lisa Kotin and “Harvesting Darcy” by Thomas Griffin. Her music has also been heard in association with SC Johnson, Southwest Airlines, Wagner, Miller Beer, and Winterfresh. Tamar also records and tours with her band The Countdown.
As a composer, Charles has been commissioned by England’s Royal College of Art, the Chicago Underground Film Festival, and the University of Chicago Doc Films Center, and has scored pieces for Showtime’s “Freshman Diaries”, Chicago’s Redmoon Theater, and the Zephyr Dance Company. He has played with such bands as Pinetop Seven and Boxhead Ensemble (with producer/musician Jim O’Rourke and MacArthur Fellowship “genius” saxophonist Ken Vandermark), and currently records and performs as the Astronomer. Charles’ book “Teach Yourself VISUALLY Guitar” is available in five languages.
Jeremy’s music has been licensed by Nike, the Chicago Cubs, and has been featured on NPR. Recent composition commissions have included work for the Chicago Complaints Choir (performed at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art) as well as for the Redmoon Theater. He tours and records as the infamous Chicago based one man band The Lonesome Organist (Thrill Jockey) and was a member of the band 5ive Style (Sub Pop).
Steve plays drums for the popular Chicago indie rock bands the M’s (Polyvinyl) and Walter & Wendall. Steve tours as a soundman and assistant road manager for the Grammy award winning band Wilco. He has composed for Mojo Magazine and the Sundance Channel. Steve also runs an online record label called Movings.
As a talented independent composer, Matt has created music for Gatorade, Kraft, 7-11, McDonald’s, Nintendo, Cadillac, and Nike to name only a few. Matt has worked on several major movie soundtracks including “Ransom,” “Blade,” “The Avengers” and “Batman and Robin.” He is also a sought after drummer and has recorded and toured with Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Filter, Betsy & the Boneshakers, and currently tours with Morrissey. He may also have a Grammy… we’ll check on that…
Chris spent the 1990s as guitarist/vocalist for the band dis-(12Inch/Cargo), Sixto, and The Shiny Ghosts. He also did a stint playing guitar in the solo project of Fred Schneider of the B52s. Since the start of this millennium he’s composed music and designed sound for Chicago theatre companies such as Remy Bumppo, Stage Left, Defiant, Boxer Rebellion, and others. Chris has recently finished the score for a feature-length horror film, “House of Black Wings”.”
Josh plays with Chicago rock bands the M’s (Polyvinyl) and Cloudbirds (Movings). He has scored for Ice Tek watches, Mojo magazine, 2K Sports Hockey ’06, and was featured in the now cancelled Fox network taste maker, the O.C.. His first film scoring was set to an animated chicken ascending to heaven and wonders if it can get any better than that.
