Steve Versaw to Drum with Wilco!

Mayfair composer and Wilco tour monitor man will step up and take one for the team tomorrow night (Dec 5th) when he takes over the drum thrown from Glenn Kotche to play with Wilco for an evening (at least for part of the set). Holy wow! Just remember, this is how Jimmy Nicol started HIS rise to fame!

The show will take place in Toronto, Canada at the Air Canada Center as Wilco opens for Neil Young. Good luck Steve!

Ethan Stoller Working on Promotions for Frank Miller’s “The Spirit” as well as Wachowskis’ “Ninja Assassin”

Mayfair composer Ethan Stoller continues his fantastic motion picture work, this time creating music and score for a 20 minute promotional film for the major motion picture The Spirit by Frank Miller (300, Sin City). The movie is Miller’s adaptation from the comic book of the same name and will be released on Christmas Day 2008 by Lionsgate. It stars Scarlett Johanssen, Samuel L Jackson and Eva Mendes.

Ethan was also the assistant music editor on the Wachowski Brothers’ produced Warner Bros. movie, Ninja Assassin.

Paul Von Mertens Nominated for a Grammy!

Today Mayfair’s Paul Von Mertens was nominated for a Grammy!! He’s up for “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)” for his arranging work on Brian Wilson’s track “Midnight’s Another Day” from the That Lucky Old Sun LP. Fingers crossed! Congratulations Paul! Watch the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 8th, 2009. (See Paul play with Brian on Late Night With Conan O’Brien on Thursday Nov. 21st!)

McDonald’s Mocha TV Spot for DDB

Mayfair has a fantastic new composer… and to prove it he won a TV spot for McDonald’s mocha coffee moments after he joined up. Welcome Matt Walker! Matt is a seasoned composer and talented drummer too (Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey). We are lucky to have him!
