MAYFAIR keeps pumping it out this month! We’ve been working on sound design for a new Best Buy app, finishing music for a great looking piece for National Car Rental, and are currently working on music for a fantastic looking animated piece for TicketsNOW. We have new music in the library, new talent signing on, and new work on our REEL page and YouTube channel. Go, go, go!

The past few weeks we’ve had a blast creating music and sound design for eleven hilarious half live action/half animated e-cards for McDonald’s with Calabash Animation. Thanks Calabash!

Living legend Mavis Staples won her very first Grammy award last night for her Jeff Tweedy produced album YOU ARE NOT ALONE (Anti-) in the Best Americana Album category! CONGRATULATIONS MAVIS AND YVONNE AND JEFF AND THE BAND! (Mayfair’s Mark Greenberg assisted the talented engineer Tom Schick on these recordings….and snuck in a few notes on the vibes and celeste, too! )

We’ve been busy busy busy here at the Mayfair Workshop. Some current and just recently finished projects include a TV spot for M&M’s (our fourth), music for a web short for 3M, McDonalds E-cards soundtracks, sound work on a fun new iPhone App (details to come), scoring for an animated pilot for Fox (fingers crossed!), audio work for Accenture, as well as music and sound design for an animated iPad children’s book to be released later this year. In the Mayfair studio: LA’s Eliza Rickman started and finished her debut record this month, Chicago’s Daniel Knox remixed his most recent record for European release, and mixing for Chicago’s Singing In The Abbey and Eleventh Dream Day, too. Go, go, go!

We’ve scored another M&M’s spot. This one has a winter holiday theme and now, not only can you customize M&M’s with your own text, you can include pictures too! We’ll post the spot once it starts airing this month.

The friendly and talented folks at Coudal Partners in Chicago do way more stuff than your average ad/design studio. Here is their newest film project called WINGS showing the processes and people that make up their wildly popular Field Notes. The film is scored with Mayfair Workshop tracks as well as a beautiful song by our friends Dianogah.

Andrew Bird’s instrumental Useless Creatures album, originally released as a limited edition companion disc with last year’s critically acclaimed Noble Beast LP, finally sees a full release on its own this month. Recorded over the course of a week during the Noble Beast sessions, Bird was joined by Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and bassist Todd Sickafoose. (Mayfair’s Mark Greenberg helped engineer both records.)

Just finished up music for a fantastic promotional video portrait of the family that founded, owns, and runs the historic Chicago Freight Car & Leasing company. We will post a clip when the project is completed.

Adult Swim has turned their 5 Minutes to Kill (Yourself) online game into an iPhone app! Mayfair’s Mark Greenberg created all the music and sound design for the game… and well, for this spot too.

This week we were lucky enough to have Miss Mavis Staples in to help us out on a Mayfair track! It was a special day having Mavis (along with her sister Yvonne) share her talent and time with us and to be honest, we are all still a bit giddy from it. That voice moves mountains! Thank you Mavis! We love you!
